Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy describes how cookies and similar technologies are used on the website of the Data Controller. The document explains what cookies are, which types may be used, on which legal bases, and how each user can manage or withdraw their consent. At present, the website uses only technical cookies necessary for its operation and collects the user's consent before activating any statistical, profiling or marketing cookies. This Cookie Policy supplements and completes the Privacy Policy, to which reference should be made for any information regarding the processing of personal data.
Data Controller
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that the websites visited send to the user's device (computer, tablet, smartphone), where they are stored and then sent back to the same websites on subsequent visits. Cookies allow a website to recognise the device, store certain information about the user's preferences and improve the browsing experience.
Together with cookies, the Data Controller may use similar technologies, such as pixels, tags, web beacons or the browser's local storage tools (local storage and session storage), which perform similar functions. In this policy, the term cookie is used in a broad sense to also refer to these equivalent technologies.
Cookies may be installed directly by the website the user is visiting (first-party cookies) or by different websites or servers operated by third parties (third-party cookies).
2. Types of cookies
Based on their purpose, cookies can be divided into the categories listed below. It should be noted that, at present, the website uses only technical necessary cookies; the other categories are described so that the user is fully informed about how any additional cookies would be activated, always subject to consent.
- Technical and necessary cookies: essential for the proper functioning of the website and for delivering the services requested by the user. They enable, for example, navigation between pages, security management and the storage of the choices made through the cookie banner. They do not require the user's consent.
- Preference cookies: allow certain settings and customisations chosen by the user to be stored (for example the language), improving the browsing experience. They are activated only subject to consent, where they cannot be attributed to strictly technical purposes.
- Statistical and analytical cookies: collect information, in aggregated or pseudonymised form, on how users interact with the website (pages visited, duration of the visit, any errors), in order to measure its use and improve its performance. They are activated only subject to the user's consent.
- Marketing and profiling cookies: used to track the user's browsing, build profiles related to their interests and display content or advertising messages in line with their preferences, also on other websites. They are activated exclusively subject to the user's explicit consent.
3. Cookies currently used by the website
At present, the website uses only technical and necessary cookies, which are essential for its operation and for storing the preferences expressed by the user regarding cookies. These cookies are not used for profiling purposes and do not involve the creation of user profiles.
Any statistical, preference or marketing cookies are not installed automatically: they are activated only after the user has given consent through the dedicated banner. Until then, only technical cookies operate on the user's device.
Should the Data Controller decide in the future to introduce additional cookies, this Cookie Policy will be updated and consent will be requested again before their activation.
- gg_consent — first-party technical/necessary cookie: stores the cookie preferences expressed by the user through the banner. Duration: 12 months.
- NEXT_LOCALE — first-party technical/necessary cookie: stores the language explicitly chosen by the user, to apply it on subsequent visits. Duration: 12 months.
- Both are technical cookies tied to the user's explicit choices and to the operation of the website: they do not require prior consent and are not used for profiling.
4. Legal basis of the processing
The installation of technical and necessary cookies is based on the legitimate interest of the Data Controller in ensuring the proper functioning of the website and in delivering the services expressly requested by the user. For this category of cookies, consent is not required, in accordance with the applicable legislation (Article 6 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679).
The installation of preference, statistical and analytical, marketing and profiling cookies is instead based on the user's consent, given freely, specifically, in an informed manner and unambiguously, pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679. Consent may be granted or refused on a granular basis for each category and may be withdrawn at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing based on the consent given prior to its withdrawal.
The Data Controller is the entity indicated in the dedicated box and in the Privacy Policy, to which reference should be made for the relevant contact details.
5. Managing consent through the banner
On first access to the website, the user is shown an information banner that allows them to express their choices regarding non-necessary cookies. Through the banner, the user can accept all cookies, refuse the non-necessary ones, or select on a granular basis the categories for which they wish to give consent.
Until the user makes a choice, only technical necessary cookies are activated. No statistical, preference or marketing cookies are installed in the absence of express consent.
The expressed preferences are stored, so that the banner is not shown again on every visit. The user may nevertheless change their choices at any time and withdraw the consent previously given, by reopening the cookie management panel available on the website.
6. Managing cookies through the browser
In addition to the banner, the user can manage or disable cookies directly from their browser settings. Most browsers allow cookies to be blocked, already installed cookies to be deleted, and a notification to be received before they are stored.
Please note that completely disabling technical cookies may compromise the proper functioning of the website and access to some of its features. The configuration methods vary depending on the browser used; the paths to the official guides of the main browsers are indicated below.
- Google Chrome: Settings section, Privacy and security area, management of cookies and site data.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings section, Privacy and security area, management of cookies and website data.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings section, Cookies and site permissions area.
- Apple Safari: Preferences section, Privacy area, management of website cookies and data.
7. Third-party cookies
Some cookies may be installed by parties other than the Data Controller, for example providers of statistical analysis services or advertising tools, where the user authorises their activation through the banner. Such cookies are managed directly by the respective providers, in accordance with their information notices and policies.
The Data Controller invites the user to consult the privacy and cookie notices of the third parties in order to learn in detail the purposes of the processing and the consent management methods they provide, over which the Data Controller has no direct control.
It is recalled that, at present, the website does not install third-party cookies without the user's prior consent.
8. Duration of cookies
Cookies have a variable duration depending on their type and purpose. Based on how long they remain on the user's device, they are divided into session cookies and persistent cookies.
- Session cookies: are stored temporarily and are automatically deleted when the browser is closed. They are used, for example, for navigation and security during a single session.
- Persistent cookies: remain stored on the device for a predefined period of time, even after the browser is closed, until they expire or until the user deletes them. They are used, for example, to store cookie preferences.
- In any case, the maximum duration of cookies is proportionate to the purpose for which they are used; the data collected is not retained longer than necessary to achieve the stated purposes.
9. How to withdraw consent
The user may withdraw the consent previously given for non-necessary cookies at any time, with the same ease with which it was granted. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent given prior to such withdrawal.
To withdraw consent, it is sufficient to reopen the cookie management panel available on the website and change one's choices, or to delete the cookies already installed through the browser settings. Following withdrawal, non-necessary cookies will no longer be installed.
To exercise the rights granted by data protection legislation, the user may contact the Data Controller using the contact details indicated in the dedicated box and in the Privacy Policy.
10. Data transfer and rights of the data subject
Since the Data Controller is based in the United States, certain processing operations connected with cookies may involve a transfer of personal data to the United States or other countries outside the European Economic Area. Such transfers take place in compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and are supported by adequate safeguards, such as the standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission or other suitable instruments provided for by the legislation.
The user is granted the rights provided for by Regulation (EU) 2016/679, including the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection and withdrawal of consent. The data subject also has the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority, in Italy the Garante for the protection of personal data, or with the supervisory authority of their country of residence.
For a complete description of the purposes, the categories of data processed, the retention periods, the processing of minors' data and the methods for exercising rights, reference should be made to the Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of this Cookie Policy.
11. Updates to the Cookie Policy
The Data Controller reserves the right to amend or update this Cookie Policy at any time, including as a result of regulatory changes, the introduction of new services or new cookies. Changes will be published on this page and will take effect from the moment of their publication.
The user is invited to consult this page periodically to check for any updates. Should cookies requiring consent be introduced, such consent will be collected again before their activation.
